The treatment
The aim of a neck massage is to relieve neck pain. With the right techniques Mihail Crigan works on the tight muscles of the neck area to loosen them and give your neck more mobility.
The massage is combined with stretching of the muscle fascia, which makes the tissues more elastic. Done professionally and regularly, neck massages help keep pain under control and prevent more serious problems.

Benefits
These are the main benefits of the treatment given by Mihail Crigan, and you notice them more with regular sessions.
Finger pressure and targeted strokes help release knots in the neck muscles.
With less tight muscles, the massage helps ease pain in the neck area.
Your neck turns and bends again with less stiffness: real help when you wake up with a stiff neck.
The stretching combined with the massage gives back elasticity to the muscle fascia of the neck.
When a headache comes from knots around the top three neck vertebrae, releasing that tension can bring relief.
Together with sport and attention to posture, regular massages help keep your neck healthy.
When to have it
A neck massage is useful when your neck is stiff, sore or hard to turn, as in these situations.
After a journey next to an open window or under the air conditioning you may wake up with a stiff neck: the cold makes the neck muscles tighten, and they pull with every movement. The massage helps loosen them and get your mobility back.
A night in a bad position, perhaps all on one side, can leave your neck stiff and sore when you wake up: stretching and finger pressure help bring relief.
Spending a lot of time at a desk means holding your neck in a poor position for long periods. To work out which habits to change, also read the article on the downsides of remote working for the neck and back.
Sports that overload the shoulders also put strain on the neck muscles. If you train often, you can add the sports massage, designed for preparation and recovery.
Do you also have pain in your back, arms or legs? Discover the deep tissue massage too, which works on knots with finger pressure on trigger points.
The causes
The most common causes of neck pain are linked to everyday habits:
If these causes go on over time, the risk grows that the pain turns into chronic cervicalgia, with frequent or constant discomfort. Prevention is better: sport, attention to posture throughout the day and regular massages.

The complaint
Cervicalgia, the medical term for neck pain (in Italy often simply called “la cervicale”), is a very common complaint that causes recurring or constant pain throughout the neck area. It affects both women and men and, partly because of the long hours we spend with technology, today it shows up in every age group.
Cervicalgia must be diagnosed by a doctor: massage can go alongside the doctor's advice to bring relief to the neck muscles, without replacing check-ups and treatment.
The session
At your first neck session Mihail asks whether you work at a computer, whether you have caught a chill and whether the pain goes up into your head. The work stays on the neck area and the shoulders: there is no insisting if there has been a recent injury. Between sessions, your posture at the desk also matters: a few minutes of stretching are worth more than a one-off massage.
Every neck massage session at the Via Monginevro 76/F studio follows four steps, and you are always treated by Mihail Crigan in person.
Mihail Crigan asks where you feel pain, since when, and about your habits: work, posture, sport, pillow and mattress.
Finger pressure and stretching of the muscle fascia work on the neck muscles, with 100% pure organic oils.
At the end of the session you get advice on posture and stretching exercises to repeat at home or at the office.
If the complaint needs a closer assessment, a consultation with a physiotherapist and a physiatrist is possible, thanks to the collaboration with Dr Oriano Casamenti of STUDIO RONEFOR.
How often can you have it? It is a massage focused on pain: you need at least 3 days between sessions, so no more than two a week; for relaxing massages there is no real limit. More answers in the massage FAQ.

It can help when the headache is linked to tension in the neck muscles: according to Mihail Crigan, knots around the top three neck vertebrae can cause headaches and sometimes dizziness. If the headache is severe, frequent or different from usual, see your doctor first.
It depends on the complaint, your age and your lifestyle: as a rule, about 5 sessions between 18 and 40 for people who play sport, and about 10 between 40 and 65 for people who lead a healthy life, always assessed case by case. Neck massage is focused on pain: you need at least 3 days between one session and the next, so no more than two sessions a week.
According to Mihail Crigan of Crigan Massaggi, heat is suitable for muscle knots, such as a neck that has seized up after catching a chill. Cold is used instead for inflammation and injuries such as sprains and strains: if the pain started after an injury, ask your doctor first.
