Journal · the Crigan Massaggi blog
In CrossFit boxes in and around Turin, athletes combine Olympic weightlifting, bodyweight gymnastics and metabolic conditioning. The sport is functional and intense: recovery is not optional. This article explains what WODs demand of your shoulders and back and when a massage at the studio on Via Monginevro can help you unload.

Unlike machine-based fitness, CrossFit recruits whole chains at once. The clean & jerk, snatch and muscle-up demand the posterior chain, shoulder girdle, core and lower limbs within a few seconds.
Explosive and plyometric contractions dominate: a rapid stretch followed by a violent concentric contraction, as in box jumps. Lactic acid after a long WOD is high: the trapezius and paraspinal muscles often stay «switched on» even at home.
Overhead movements under lactic fatigue make technique worse. Among the most commonly mentioned problems: shoulder discomfort after kipping pull-ups, perceived instability in the lower back after deadlifts with a tired core. Conditions such as a SLAP tear or rhabdomyolysis are medical emergencies, not a matter for massage.
Dark urine after an extreme WOD, sharp shoulder pain, loss of strength or an injury: go to A&E or see a doctor, not the massage table.
At the Crigan Massaggi studio in Turin, sports massage and deep tissue massage are used to deactivate trigger points in the trapezius, lats and paraspinal muscles and to restore perceived shoulder blade mobility.
Looser shoulders help with overhead movements. On their own they do not «protect your joints» and they do not wipe out DOMS. People who train 4–5 times a week often consider a session every 3–4 weeks. Session: 60 minutes, 60 €, Via Monginevro 76/F.

It can bring relief and more freedom in the neck and shoulders. If the WODs stay the same and rest does not change, the tension comes back.
For 4–5 workouts a week, a session every 3–4 weeks is a realistic rhythm, not a health minimum.
